Multiplex Assay Overview:
The assay service provided by Eve Technologies on their Mouse Cytokine Array / Chemokine Array 44-Plex facilitates research on immune response, inflammatory disease, allergy, irritable bowel disease (IBD), sepsis and cancer. This Discovery Assay® measures thirty-two biomarkers simultaneously in a single microwell. The assay is designed for extracellular protein analysis in nearly all types of biological samples.
“Cytokine” is a general term used for a diverse group of soluble proteins and peptides which act as regulators under both normal and pathological conditions to modulate the functional activities of individual cells and tissues. These proteins also mediate direct interactions between cells and regulate processes taking place in the extracellular environment. Cytokines differ from hormones in that they act on a wider spectrum of target cells. Responses to cytokines result in inflammation where the immune system attempts to eradicate foreign antigens and begin the healing process. Consequently, the inflammatory process plays a key protective role in immunity.
Also, unlike hormones, they are not produced by specialized cells which are organized in specialized glands. The cytokine group of proteins includes lymphokines, interferons, colony stimulating factors and chemokines. Cytokine and chemokine research plays a significant role in achieving a deeper understanding of the immune system and its multi-faceted response to most antigens, as well as disease states such as inflammatory disease, allergic reactions, irritable bowel disease (IBD), sepsis, and cancer.
Intended Sample Type: Mouse serum or plasma (EDTA recommended), cell cultures, tissue homogenates and others. Due to a wide range of sample conditions, a pilot run is recommended for cell cultures, tissue homogenates, and other sample types not listed.
Special Sample Preparation:
Serum and Plasma are recommended to be run at a 2-fold dilution. If you wish to run your samples at a dilution, predilute your samples with PBS
ALL samples must be centrifuged prior to aliquoting. The aliquot should be drawn from the middle of the sample volume. Samples that have a high amount of contaminants, cellular debris, lipids, or coagulation can result in a volume loss as volume is being displaced by this debris and they can clog the filters. Highly turbid or coagulated samples that clog the filters will be partially filtered by piercing the clogged membrane
